ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC is pleased to announce that Karen Unalp has been named Chief Compliance Officer & HR Director. Karen heads the insurance compliance department where her team is responsible for managing and maintaining ARC’s insurance licenses and handling ARC’s surplus lines filings. In addition, Karen is responsible for heading up the human resources department where she and her team will recommend and implement legally sound and effective human resource management programs, policies and practices. Karen coordinates the strategic planning and implementation of human resource programs to include professional and administrative staffing, wage and salary administration, leave administration, performance appraisal and employee relations.
Karen joined ARC in 1997 and served as ARC’s office manager where her responsibilities ranged from ordering office supplies to coordinating with our property manager for repairs to coordinating with the IT department with regard to purchasing and maintaining office equipment, etc. As Karen continued to demonstrate the ability to assume greater responsibilities, Karen became responsible for spearheading our insurance compliance activities including overseeing ARC’s licensing and running the administration of ARC’s surplus lines filings and payment of the applicable surplus lines taxes to the applicable state surplus lines authorities. As Karen continued to take on more responsibility, she became responsible for handling all human resource functions.
Karen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Briarcliffe College and obtained a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Hofstra University in 2005.
